Six criteria for choosing inventory management software

1. Does it scan barcodes with the phone?

Work happens on the counter and in the warehouse, with a phone in hand. If the software can't scan barcodes with the camera and handle sales, goods receipt and counting from the same screen, records get left for the evening — and records left for the evening end up incomplete.

2. Do you have to issue e-invoices?

If you are an e-invoice (Turkey's electronic invoicing system) taxpayer, having stock in the same program you issue invoices from saves you work; Paraşüt, Logo İşbaşı and Bizim Hesap combine the two. If your accountant or a separate portal handles invoicing, a simpler app is enough for stock.

3. How many warehouses, how many people?

A single shop with one warehouse and goods transfers between branches are very different needs. If you need transfers between several warehouses, look for software that explicitly supports it; if your employees will also enter records, compare the per-user fee and the permission settings.

4. Is there internet everywhere?

Cloud software needs a connection. If you will work somewhere with poor signal — a basement warehouse, a construction site, a market stall or a village shop — you need an offline app that keeps data on the device.

5. Where does free use end?

"Free" can mean three different things: a time-limited trial (payment after 14 days), a permanent free plan (with a limit on products, orders or transactions) and a completely free tool (Excel). Before signing up, read whether the limit is on time, on the number of products or on the number of transactions.

6. Are customer accounts and customer credit in the same place?

For a small shop, stock and customer credit (veresiye, selling on account) can't be separated: goods sold on credit must both leave the stock and be written to the customer's debt. Keeping two separate ledgers means one gets updated and the other gets forgotten.

It has an iOS and Android app. You can try it free for 14 days, then use it with a subscription. Best for: businesses that issue e-invoices (Turkey's electronic invoicing system) and want to run their accounting in the same program as their accountant.

4. Logo İşbaşı

Logo İşbaşı is Logo Yazılım's cloud pre-accounting program: stock, orders, customer accounts, cash-bank, cheques, e-invoice and e-archive invoice (Turkey's electronic invoicing systems) together. It is used from the web and from the iOS-Android app, offers a free trial, then continues with a subscription. Best for: businesses that work with Logo products and have moved to e-invoice and e-archive.

5. Bizim Hesap

Bizim Hesap is a program that combines stock and warehouse tracking with pre-accounting: products with variants, transfers between warehouses, bank and POS integration; marketplace and e-commerce integrations in the higher plan. The Android and iOS app is available in both plans. You can try it free for 14 days, then use it with an annual subscription. Best for: businesses that sell from several warehouses or on marketplaces and issue e-invoices (Turkey's electronic invoicing system).

6. Zoho Inventory

Zoho Inventory is an international inventory and order management program. Its permanent free plan is limited to 50 orders per month, 1 user and 2 locations; paid plans increase the number of orders, users and locations. It has iOS, Android and Windows apps. For e-invoice integration in Turkey (Turkey's electronic invoicing system), check its official site. Best for: businesses that sell abroad and manage multiple locations and an order flow.

7. Sortly

Sortly is a visual inventory app with photos and folders; it is strong at tracking materials, equipment and assets. Its free plan is limited to 100 items and 1 user, and in-app barcode/QR scanning starts on paid plans. It is not a sales, receipt or customer-account program. It has iOS and Android apps. Best for: teams that count materials and assets without selling.

8. Excel template

If you have few products and one person keeps the records, Excel still works. StokExcel's inventory tracking template and warehouse count template require no signup and are free with no time limit. The limits are that there is no barcode scanning, no low-stock notification, and no way for several people to work at the same time; the detailed difference is in the Excel table on the home page.
